ASSE provides academic year and semester exchange programs in the United States or abroad for high school students from around the world. ASSE International (originally American Scandinavian Student Exchange) is a nonprofit, public benefit organization. ASSE is officially designated as an Exchange Visitor Program by the U.S. Department of State. It was founded by the Swedish Ministry of Education and cooperates with the Canadian Provincial Ministries of Education.
ASSEs primary goal is to contribute to international understanding by enabling students, host families and the community to learn about each other languages and cultures.

You are ready to volunteer and help us carry on our mission?...
...You may participate in our program in a variety of ways!
ADULTS looking for a rewarding part time activity working with exchange students and host families: join our team and become an ASSE Area representative!
Area Representatives are crucial links between all participants involved in international exchange program. They recruit and screen prospective local host families, supervise the exchange students in their community throughout the year, interview American high school students applying to the outbound program and support them in their learning journey abroad. Area Representatives receive a stipend based on the number of students they place and supervise throughout the exchange year. If you are excited about an opportunity to volunteer your time into working with students to help them enlarge their perspectives, please consider becoming part of our team!
FAMILIES looking for a unique enriching experience: participate to our inbound program as a host parent for an International Exchange Student!
If you are ready and excited to share your home, your family experience and the American culture, please consider becoming a host family to an International Exchange Student. Your whole family will gain and exchange new perspectives, unforgettable memories as well as priceless and lifelong relationships opening new doors to all family members!
