Donna Jean

Passed away in the loving arms of God in the presence of her family on July 27, 2010. Donna was born in Pasco, Washington June 15, 1959 to George and Agnes Steeves. She attended St. Pat's grade school in Pasco, Washington; she is a graduate of

Pasco High School, Columbia Basin College and the Gonzaga University class of 1981. She worked as a lifeguard at the Pasco public pools and the credit bureau in the Tri Cities. In 1978 she met her future husband while both were attending Columbia Basin College. Donna transferred to Gonzaga University, and they continued their courtship while attending school, Donna at GU and Dale at EWU. On August 1st, 1981, Donna and Dale were married at St. Pat's in Pasco. They made their home in Spokane while raising their three children. Donna began working at Gonzaga Prep in the mid 90's as a counseling secretary. She was also Gonzaga Prep's Registrar. Donna's true passion was tennis; she began playing at a young age in Pasco. She played for Pasco High, Columbia Basin College and Gonzaga University, where she was the number one single's player. She was the varsity tennis coach at Gonzaga Prep, where she had a "no cut policy" often having 80-90 girls turn out because they knew if they turned out, they could play. Throughout her coaching career, her teams won several district, regional and state awards. She was a wonderful and loving mentor to many young women. Many of these girls became her friends for life. She also played as often as she could with her own adult women's tennis league where she loved the company of her teammates. Everyone who met Donna fell in love with her laugh and smile. Donna was a member of St. Thomas More Church for nearly 30 years. She was a Parish Council Member and she attended adoration weekly. Donna is survived by her husband Dale, her son Kevin (Jessica), her daughter Renee, her son Jake, mother Agnes Steeves, brothers Gary Steeves (Connie), Greg Steeves (Margy), sisters Joanne Wilcynski, Ellen Weiss, Barbara Steeves, and Ellen Betzler, one grandchild Alyxus Lenseigne, Ryan Cunningham (honorary son), as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, George Steeves. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gonzaga Prep (tennis courts). The family would like to thank Dr. Merg, Dr. Lambert, and Dr. Dixon for their care of Donna.

A Vigil Service will be held Friday, July 30, at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzaga Preparatory School, 1224 E. Euclid. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 31, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 505 W. St. Thomas More Way. Please visit Donna's memorial at
