Phillip
(Age 82)

Passed away peacefully on March 6, 2010 at his son's Foothills home with his wife and children at his side. Phillip was born December 13, 1927 in Clarkston, Washington to O.W. Phillip and Eva (Ericsson) Anderson. He was the
eldest of their two children. The family settled in Dishman in 1942. Phillip graduated from West Valley High School in January of 1946. He was soon drafted into the United States Army where he served in Japan as a member of Gen. Douglas MacArthur's Honor Guard. Phillip married Evelyn Hartman on September 9, 1951. Together they raised four children; Loretta (Phillip) Holbrook, Dale (Debbie) Anderson, Douglas (Susan) Anderson and Glen (Ellen) Anderson. Phillip worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, at several regional airports, Comet Trailer, Fiberform/Bayliner Boats. His lifelong interest in aviation led him to Seattle in 1964 where he worked for the Boeing Corporation as an aircraft mechanic. He could repair almost anything. His friends and extended family looked to him for mechanical expertise and assistance whenever they had a problem and he never let them down. A self taught carpenter he rebuilt and remodeled several houses. Phillip had a passion for the written word. He read voraciously. He also enjoyed computer photography and games, emailing friends and family, and working on model airplanes. When Evelyn required skilled nursing care in 2008, Phillip moved to Rose Pointe Assisted Living where he enjoyed day trips and activities. He served as President of the Resident Council. Phillip is survived by his wife and children; grandchildren David (Charlene) Anderson, William (Christine) Anderson, Robert (Alisa) Smith, Michelle Smith, Tricia Anderson, Casi Anderson, Jane Anderson, Mark Anderson and Amanda Williams; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Connie (Bob) Battles, Greenacres, brothers-in-law Donald (Ruth) Hartman and Kenneth (Ruthie) Hartman of Ellensburg, four nieces and one nephew. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010, 11:00a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 17909 E. Broadway, Spokane Valley, Washington, Rev. Craig Wulf officiating.
