SHENKEL, Kenneth "Bud"

1923 - 2009

Kenneth "Bud" Shenkel died peacefully in his sleep November 10. Born in Ohio, he had been a resident of Deer Park for 28 years. He was a nurseryman who owned Tu-Kens Nursery until it was purchased by the present owners of April Garden Center. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a proud Navy veteran of WWII. He leaves four children: Kathleen Jinks of Pullman, Kenneth Shenkel III of Morgan Hill, CA, Karen Shenkel of Mead, Kurt Shenkel of Goleta, CA, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred "Mickey". As he requested no formal service a family gathering was held earlier.
