GREEN, Penelope Bradshaw "Peg"
(Age 87)

Passed away at home in Spokane on November 19, 2009. Peg was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 2, 1921, and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the University of Louisville, where she met her husband of 68 years, Dr. Harry C. Green, Jr. They were married on July 11, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas, and lived in various places for the next 27 years while Harry attended medical school, and served in the Air Force until his retirement in 1968. They permanently relocated to Spokane where they have lived happily for the past 41 years. Peg was a member of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, where she sang in the choir, served in the Bishop's Guild and Altar Guild, and was one of the founding board members of Cathedral and the Arts. She also served as a long-time committed office volunteer at the Cathedral. Peg loved to attend concerts and plays, and was an avid bridge player. She also loved to travel, and she and Harry enjoyed many wonderful trips together after his retirement. Peg was known by many for her perfect handwriting and eloquent thank you notes. She was a board member of Planned Parenthood of the Inland Northwest, and for many years was an avid golfer and an excellent hostess. She is survived by her husband, Harry, their three children, Harry C. Green, III (Linda Hart Green) of Ridgewood, New Jersey, Penny Reid and James Green (Charlotte Green) both of Spokane; grandchildren Emily Rout (Bryant) and Megan Jankovsky of Spokane, Kate Jankovsky (Barry Weidenbenner) of Interlachen, Florida, and Christy Le Lait (Alain) and Harry C. Green, IV of Colorado Springs; and great-grandchildren Logan Weidenbenner, Bradley and Marianne Routt, and Sam Pitts. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 10:30am at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., Spokane. Memorial contributions can be made to Crosswalk in Spokane or to The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
