BEAMER,

Louise
(Age 95)

Louise Kerr Beamer, 95, passed away peacefully November 16, 2009 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to James G. and Josie Kerr and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Louise remained proud of her Norwegian heritage and strong family ties.

Louise moved to Wallace, Idaho in 1940 when she married her husband of 48 years, William C. Beamer. Wallace welcomed her warmly as a new bride and she was soon active in church organizations, sewing and bridge clubs, Gyro groups, Wallace Lady Elks, Library Board and skiing events.

Louise worked at Hecla Mining Company as a switchboard operator during the war, showing her deep love for country and patriotic pride. Later, she served on the Wallace Election Board. But her passion in life was to create a happy home, take care of her family and share in their accomplishments. Louise prided herself on being an excellent seamstress. Her daughters have fond memories of the handmade dresses, bathrobes and coats they proudly wore from grade school through college years. Nobody could starch a petticoat like mom. Shiny black patent leather shoes and white socks were the dress code for church every Sunday.

Mom loved to cook; Sunday afternoon the family could be found enjoying a picnic in Pottsville. Camping and fishing trips to the river brought the family together. Louise made long lasting friendships. She kept in touch with friends of her youth for over eighty years and was a fifty year member of PEO.

Her faith was important to her. She served as Sunday school teacher, wedding director, deaconess, Corinthians member and officer for the United Church of Christ Congregational of Wallace.

Her close family will continue the traditions she treasured and will miss being able to talk, reminisce and share their lives with her. Watching mom these last few years, we have learned life lessons about facing adversity with grace, humor and a positive attitude.

A caring mother, devoted grandmother and beloved sister, Louise is survived by daughters, Carol Wellman (Mike) of Chesterfield, Virginia and Kathy Hickman (Dale) of Coeur d'Alene, along with granddaughters, Allison Wellman, Richmond, Virginia and Stacie Wellman, Alexandria, Virginia and sister, Jayne Welsh of Montevideo, Minnesota.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Melchorie, the caregivers of BeeHive Homes and Applegate Hospice for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 23, 2009 at the YATES FUNERAL HOME, COEUR D'ALENE CHAPEL. Burial will be at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens. Please visit Louise's memorial and sign her online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
