- Lois E. Stookey passed away peacefully after a short illness on November 4, 2009 in Hayden Lake. Lois was born on January 23, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Mable and Bert Miller. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Taft High School. She married John Davison, and
- they moved to Choteau, MT where they farmed for a number of years before returning to the Chicago area. She met and married William Stookey, and they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. They retired to Hayden Lake in 1990 to live on Avondale Lake and enjoy golfing.
- Lois retired as a travel agent but never lost her passion to see the world. She and Bill were able to travel extensively together. Lois was an avid golfer, and a member of the ladies 9 hole league at Avondale. She was a 63 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star including serving as Worthy Matron in Montana and later became an active member of the Queen Esther Chapter in Coeur d'Alene. Lois had a flair for the dramatic and loved to entertain through her songs, dance and skits with her friends throughout her life. She was also active in her church serving as a deacon and elder at Faith Presbyterian Church as well as in the Hand to Hand service group.
- Family and friends were very important to Lois. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life, and playing with them was her favorite pastime. She also loved to entertain in elegant style at her home on the lake. Her love of cooking, baking and making things "just perfect" made for fun and festive times at the Stookey's.
- Lois is survived by her husband of 38 years, William Stookey; daughters Nancy Barr, Nina Drake, Sherry Dobol, Karen Hanson, and Nancy Grasseschi; sons John Davison, Jim Stookey and John Stookey; twenty-one grand-daughters and grandsons; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
- Viewing will be at Monday, November 9, 2009 Yates Funeral home Hayden Chapel will be from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00P.M. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2009 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 9485 Maple in Hayden Lake at 1:00P.M. followed by graveside interment Please make any donations in Lois' name to Faith Presbyterian Church or North Idaho Hospice.
