- Passed away November 3, 2009 near Latah, WA. Zachary was bornNovember 4, 1991 at Spokane, WA to Chris and Liz (McCormack) Smith. He was home-schooled grades 1 thru 8 at his home near Tekoa. He attended Tekoa High School and was currently in his Senior Year. Zach was Tekoa High School Student Body President this year. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa, and the Tekoa - Oakesdale Future Farmers of America. Zach loved the lake and anything outdoors. He was an avid hunter (deer, elk, turkey, and pheasant) and also loved bass fishing. In school, he was active in the football, basketball and golf programs and had participated in the State Golf Tournament for two years. He loved tubing, wake boarding, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, and even bridge jumping. During the summer months, he worked with his family at Smith Brothers Farms. He absolutely loved life, was a very happy kid who was always smiling. He wanted everyone around him to be happy.
- Survivors include his parents, Chris and Liz Smith of Tekoa; his brother, Gabe Smith of Tekoa; two sisters, Christen Blank and her husband Cam of Tekoa, and Casey Smith, attending Carroll College in Helena, MT; grandparents Byron Smith of Spokane, Vern and Molly McCormack of Tekoa; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
- Viewing will be held at Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Rosary will be held Sunday, November 8th at 7:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tekoa High School Gymnasium in Tekoa. Father Mike Woods will officiate at the services and a private family burial will follow at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa. Memorial gifts may be given to the Sacred Heart Parrish, Box 957, Tekoa, WA, 99033 or to the Tekoa - Oakesdale F.F.A.-4-H Livestock Boosters, c/o Linda Babb, Box 635,Tekoa, WA, 99033.
