COLE, Victor G.

(Age 93)

Passed away October 29, 2009 in Spokane, WA. He was born in Thornton, WA on October 22, 1916. His family moved to Chewelah about that time, where he graduated from Jenkins High School in 1934. Victor was a veteran of World War II and was discharged with a rank of Master Sergeant. He attended Northwestern and Kinman Business Colleges before receiving his CPA certificate in 1951 and practiced public accounting until 1971. Victor was a past member of Gavelier Toastmasters, Northeast Kiwanis Club, Municipal League of Spokane, was active in Associations for a Better Community and served in two bond drives of Citizens for Park Improvements. In 1969, he was appointed to the Spokane City Council and served two years before being appointed as Assistant City Manager, Finance, where he served for eleven years before retiring in January of 1982. Victor was a dedicated supporter of the Blood Bank and achieved total blood donations of more than 21 gallons. He is survived by his two sons, Richard A. Hodge and Daniel R. Cole; daughter-in-law, Judi L. Hodge; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His death was preceded by that of his mother; father; two brothers and a sister.
