- FOUR OPENINGS
- The City of Spokane Valley seeks four members to serve on the City of Spokane Valley's Planning Commission. The purpose of the Commission is to study and make recommendations to the City Council for future planned growth through continued review of the City's comprehensive land use plan, development regulations, shoreline management, environmental protection, public facilities, capital improvements, and other matters as directed by the City Council. Qualifications include having an interest in planning, land use, transportation, capital infrastructure, and building and landscape design as evidenced by training, experience, or interest in the City of Spokane Valley. Members of the Commission shall be nominated by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council. Members are selected without respect to political affiliations and serve without compensation. Members must reside within the city limits of Spokane Valley. The Planning Commission generally meets at 6:00 p.m. on second and fourth Thursdays. Applications may be obtained from the City's website (www.spokanevalley.org) under volunteer opportunities, or by contacting Chris Bainbridge, City Clerk, 509-688-0177. The term for these openings will begin January 1, 2010. Please note that two or possibly three incumbents whose terms expire the end of this year, will seek re-appointment for a three-year term. The fourth position is to complete the unexpired term of the Planning Commissioner who ran unopposed for a City Council position, and that unexpired Planning Commission term ends 12-31-11. Appointments are tentatively slated for the December 15 Council meeting. Applications should be submitted so that they are received by the City Clerk not later than 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2009.
