- BOMBINO, Beverly
- Our sweet angel unfurled her wings and left this earth to receive her well deserved reward in heaven. Beverly passed away surrounded by family March 27, 2009 at Sacred Heart Medical Center from complications due to respiratory failure. The last several years were a real challenge for her, originating with a fall and complicated by diabetes and C.O.P.D. with multiple bouts of pneumonia. Beverly was born March 15, 1930 in St. Paul, MN. She spent her early years living in many different places, including Bemidji, MN; Chicago, IL; Cascade Locks, OR and Spokane. Beverly graduated from North Central High School in 1948. She met her future husband in 1947 and they were married in 1951. They recently celebrated their 58th anniversary. Most of her adult life was spent in the Tri-Cities where she was very active in her children's school activities and served as a teacher's aide and volunteer office assistant. She also served on the school board of St. Patrick's School in Pasco until moving to Richland. The last five years living in Richland she was employed as Office Manager for Psychological Consultants. Upon her husband's retirement they moved back to Spokane to reconnect with relatives and friends and enjoyed over 12 years of meeting many new friends as daily walkers at the Northtown Mall. With her outgoing personality, Beverly quickly became known as the Queen of Pickle Barrel, a longtime restaurant hangout at the mall. Beverly is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Kathryn Bombino Elliott and husband Clifford and four stepchildren of Pasco; son, Joseph Bombino and wife Elizabeth of Richland; brother, Jack Evenoff and wife Shirley; brother-in-law, Roland Bombino and wife Mary; sisters-in-law: Elsie Robinette and Jerrine Evenoff all of Spokane; aunts: Kathryn Lizotte of Chicago, Marguerite Shofner of Bemidji; granddaughters: Miranda Custer and husband Michael of Cheney, Jessica Bombino Elliott and husband Matthew of Denver and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her most precious first daughter, Marilyn Bombino who passed away in 1970; her parents: Henry Evenoff and Marie Fleigher and her brother, Wayne Evenoff. Her family wishes to extend their appreciation to Dr. John Klim and Dr. Scot Bradley and their staffs at the Rockwood Clinic for their compassionate care over the past several years and during the last difficult week of her life. We also express our gratitude to the wonderful nurses and aides at Sacred Heart Medical Center who were so kind and caring during her stay, and a very special thanks to our own RN, Miranda Custer, who spent so many off duty hours at her "Becka's" bedside. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution, the family suggest the Ronald McDonald House of Spokane, 1015 W. 5th Avenue, Spokane WA 99204-3001, or the Union Gospel Mission, PO Box 4066, Spokane WA 99220-0066.
